Welcome to our website. We are Fiction Tree, an originals band from Chichester, West Sussex, UK, and our website URL is https://www.fictiontree.co.uk/.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We may need collect some of your personal data if you wish to contact us with an enquiry, place an order through our shop, subscribe to a mailing list or make any other enquiry. This may include:

  • Your email address
  • Your telephone
  • Your postal address(es)
  • Account preferences
  • Transactional data, such as purchase information
  • Technical data, such as information about cookies

This data will only be used to process or contact you about an order, contact you about related products, offers or news from Fiction Tree or to respond to any other general enquiry you may have made. This data can be collected either by being submitted by yourself or from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third-party embeds.

Data collected by our store

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!

  • Set up your account for our store
  • Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
  • Improve our store offerings

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

How long do we keep personal data?

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for up to 6 years for tax and accounting purposes but a contact form enquiry would generally only be kept for as long as is necessary to process the enquiry but may be kept for up to a year if relevant. This information normally includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses. We will also store comments or reviews, if you choose to leave them.

Who on our team has access

Only necessary members of our team have access to the information you provide us which will include Site Administrators and Shop Managers. They can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

What we share with others

We only share information with third parties who help us provide our orders and store services to you. This can include:

  • Fulfilment companies to produce and ship the products you order
  • Payment gateway for processing payments (see payments below)
  • Shipping providers to deliver your order

Payments

We accept payment through Stripe. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to PayPal, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

Cookies

Some features on our site require the use of cookies to give you the best experience. These are mainly used by our shopping cart software, WooCommerce, for handling your cart and checkout process during your visit. Please see the WooCommerce Privacy Policy for more information.

Analytics

Like most sites, we use analytics to track visits and page views to our site. We have chosen to use Plausible Analytics, which is a privacy focused analytics platform which does not use cookies or store any personal data.

What rights you have over your data

  • Your right to object to processing – You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability – You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

Where your data is sent

Our website is hosted in the UK through a UK-based ISP and any data you submit to us is stored with our site. We also use Campaign Monitor for email marketing and Stripe for processing payments. Links to their privacy policies are listed above where you can find out more about how and where they store their data. Orders from our store are also managed by a UK provider.
